Emily Griffith, Founder and CEO of Lil Bucks

"I believe our values of good vibes, uncompromised nutrition and bettering our planet are at our core. Action begins now, not when we’re big and have a lot of money. To me, a cost to offset our environmental impact is THE cost of doing business, and I am so thrilled to partner with and support rePurpose Global as they perfectly align with our mission. Becoming sustainable is a journey, and even though we still have to use plastic now, this is a great step forward."

How It Works

1. Measure

Lil Bucks donates a percentage of every product purchase to fund the collection of 2000 lbs of low-value PP plastic waste from oceans and landfills every year.

2. Compensate

Low-value plastic is collected, processed and reused by Taka Taka Solutions - a waste management service in Kenya that employs and empowers waste pickers to tackle plastic waste.

3. Reduce

Lil Bucks will work with rePurpose Global to reduce the future use of virgin plastics in their products and build a more circular business and delivery mode for their company.

Lil Bucks' Sustainability Journey

Sustainable Sourcing

Lil Bucks ensures that from the planting of their buckwheat seeds to delivering the final product to you, each step of the process is helping the planet. Apart from being an incredible protein source, as a rotating crop buckwheat also helps farmers replenish their soil, making it the perfect fit for the company.

An Ongoing Journey

As a business with sustainability at its core, Lil Bucks will continue to educate their customers on proper recycling and composting techniques as they prepare for the launch of their recyclable pouches, and hopefully one day with compostable pouches. Being Plastic Neutral is a step forward for them, but definitely not the final destination.

The Plastic Neutral Shift

While Lil Bucks' buckwheat improves soil health, their journey to finding more sustainable packaging continues. Through its partnership with rePurpose Global, Lil Bucks is empowering waste workers to fight plastic pollution in their communities and providing all its products at a net zero plastic footprint.
